Amos is helping build this setup with the guidance of Ron Kimler. How long will he be gone no one knows and the trails are still closed untill April. The whole close our trails from October till April really sucks for new stuff and steroid tweaking. Its going to be espically difficult this year due to people movin on and the few diggers have familys with needs. Not sure what to expect, except that I will be hitting the woods hard under the radar soon enough.

The wizards of the woods would like you to come support them, I will be there! There is nothing like The Catty Woods and a cant imagine BMX with out them. The guys there pay insurance out of there pockets as well as having fundraisers, this being one to keep the woods alive! Its a salty bill not easy to achieve they have family's and bills as well as keeping this 8th world wonder alive. Its our duty the community to help them reach the amount they need the end of year is approaching and due date as well. Little late on this post, works a bitch.........

Well it poured on the Heathens Saturday and to make matters worse it was bitter cold making it super shitty to get shitty outdoors. Alot of people still came out and a decision was made to build a ramp course and have a fun little comp. Sam Weir won the weekend getaway which was awarded to the highest vert wall ride(you wouldn't be a resie rider) Stoked to see this guy get it! Resei rider big ball no std award went too Max Prugger! This guy is defiantly a mega heavy hitter, so Big Daddy shut the Fuck up and eat your heart out !!!! I want to thank all our sponsors who supported us Sparkys mail order, Sputnic, and Subrosa and Woodward!! Most importantly I want to thank the people who came out in spite of the weather, we wouldn't have had that much fun without YOU!!! Also to the bands im not a metal head but you guys kicked ass and leveled me out.

As you can see from the photo the trails have lost there butter. The cap on this mushroom saved the 2.5 inchs of butter beneath its stump. Not the same can be said for everything that didnt have a tarp such major piles as the dirt bowl. Rocks and water are plentyfull in the patch stop down and tweak a shovel.

"Following recent health issues which have grown increasingly worse in the last month, Mike 'Tag' Tagliavento, an original member of the FBM team, part owner of Shitluck Clothing, co-producer of classic BMX videos such as "1201" and all-around amazing BMX rider, was diagnosed earlier this month with Stage ll Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma is a cancer that affects the lymphoid tissue, which includes the lymph nodes, spleen and other organs of the immune system. Doctors have discovered tumors in the throat, chest and clavicle areas on Tag, and on Saturday, April 16, Mike took the first step towards recovery, starting 18 weeks of intense chemotherapy.

Currently, Mike Tag is in the ICU in an Ithaca, N.Y. hospital, recovering from complications which included fluid around his heart. Tag hopes to return home as soon as possible and continue treatment. But he needs our help.

Mike has no health insurance and cannot work while undergoing chemotherapy.

Tag, as many of us have come to know him throughout the years, has played an integral part in elevating the status of dirt riding, street riding and video production throughout the early '90s and into the '00s. Mike was one of the first riders to really focus on the art of searching for spots, and for years, Mike traveled the world with his FBM and a video camera in search of elusive rails. Mike Tag's riding and filming has been featured in over a decade of FBM videos, as well as countless issues of Props, Road Fools and etnies "Forward". And Mike was the first rider to receive a signature frame from FBM, the Night Train.

To put it bluntly, Mike Tag's riding (and antics) influenced an entire generation of BMX.
Over the next few months, we plan on doing everything we can to help Mike through this difficult time, and we need everyone's support. That may include fundraising, and it might be something as simple as sending positive vibes Mike's way.

Heathens have been putting in time in-between the ever too frequent rain showers. The Commander was there today until a broom broke in half and toke the tip off his middle finger. Moons ago I had a shovel snap and rip the web between my thumb and pointer finger but was no where near this incident! There goes are safety streak! Inspect those tools!!! Amos is back home but he and Tyson have started the dirt jumps at camp Woodward so they are like the rest of us now. Evening and weekend warriors. Old age responsibilities suck sometimes! The work is coming along and everything is going to be way better this year, big jump on the ratitude scale! Two big trail jams are planned this year like last year. I cant speak much of the Halloween train jam comp (3rd annual) this year, but what is in the works is going to blow everyone world wide away!!!!! If you thought last years was big you are in for a surprise to say the least!! Hope it all stays on track and comes together, actually I'm scared shit less!!!! First jump in Hips is gone, now a big roller. I am a little bummed on this, never want to lose jumps. This change is just a change not for any real improvement. I see that Panamoka has jumps dialed, a line running, and it seems they finish what they start before moving on to something else. The Heathens spend more time pointing fingers, starting something there, and then start something here, and then lets do this with no completion. Some want to start the annual redo but there seems to be change wanted everywhere??? Two big new jobs is enough on the plate with all the redo to go as well. Especially with the ever more loss of diggers. Not sure what to think, Im to old to fight over this shit. Just want to roast jumps and chill in the woods. If we wanted to ride rollers we would be building pump tracks instead of trails. Bummed......

Helmet or No Helmet?

I used to not wear a helmet, then my kids got into riding. I would tell them to put a helmet on and they would tell me to put mine on. It made sense, so i started to wear one all the time to show them and there friends by example. This pic is a reminder of what happens without a helmet, you fall hit your head, don't know where you are, how you got there, or where you need to go. I have been fortunate, all this talk about you look stupid with a helmet or helmets aren't cool pisses me off. We ride little kids bikes, so we look stupid to the majority of society anyway, at least with a helmet we can look stupid and responsible at the same time. I don't care what people think, but I do care what my family thinks. I wear a helmet all the time now. I wish more people would wear them, it just seems stupid not too. The latest issue of DIG had a article in it regarding this issue motivating me to write this....... Van the man Homen said it best......"I'm wearing a helmet more for the people who love me."

So the trails are closed?! This is something I haven't seen before....sucks! I miss the stacking aspect of digging and maintenance seems to be all we really do in the patch since we cant build any new jumps.. Well the trails are going to need a little maintenance after this storm. Nothing to major, the sun in shining and the wind is steady so the trails should dry out fast! All drainage was cleaned out today waster ripping out of back logged trannys. We should have all Heathens and friends in the trails this weekend for some smacking and a little re stacking. Not as bad as one might have thought. Also i received a phone call last night stating that Kink bikes and Blackout distribution would like to jump on board as a sponsor!!! Awesome !! Looks like we might have quiet a competition as who will be the winning bike company !!! Teams so far FBM, Sunday, Circuit, and Kink bikes!! Stacking up to be epic!! Rains freaking me out!! We got two inch's Monday and Tuesday which these shots were taking. Wednesday was good the trails were drying faster then I would've thought and a new lip was built over the course of the day! Now Thursday we are receiving a cervix ripping douche from mother nature!! Bullshit dryer then a priests bar all summer and now 6 inch's of what the fuck in four days!!!!! Not sure whats going to happen for the jam/contest for the 9th!! The Heathens will be all hands on deck with some neighboring spots pitching in sum man hours. I have seen the weather forecast for the weekend and into next Wednesday. Looks good just what we need!! If we have dry days from here to next Saturday you will never know we received all this rain!! Fingers crossed, stay tuned for daily updates!!!!

Good riding and good times fill the patch, rain coming tomorrow we will see if we cant ape out some new shit!! Annual Train team trail jam comp looks to be slated for October 16th! You dont want to miss this jam teams of three riders will be judged on costumes, style, passing, and all that crazy shit they can come up with. The Heathens charge a small fee to spectate or ride at the trails for the day all this money and raffle money along with individual entry fees for specific contest goes to the prize purse!!!! Last year we had four teams, the top three teams get paid, i think each first place team rider each got $120greenbacks a piece last year! It aint no dew tour but good for some drunken B team riders!! The turnout dictates the prize money, but all in all that's not bad for a good time in the woods!!!!

Wow, sums up the weekend!! Kickass patch with P Mac and company camping at the patch=night filled with double fisting and days full of trail blazing!!! Alot of good company rolled threw this weekend, Derek Braaaaapin Brower was back and killing it as usual to many kickass dudes rolled in but most were sickened by the stale heat and heavy drinking, causing low stamina and little desire to sweat it out. The trails are super dry as is any on the East Coast. Dialing has begun after the jam traffic pounded the poor patch. I dont mind I love jams. The weather is making patching a little tough and a little time consuming, F It! Gotta get patch up to snuff for the pond jumper visit next week. Hope it rains soon!!!!!!!!!!! Just not Wednesday!
